He was predeceased by: his parents, Fredrick T. Matthews and Ellie Christine Matthews (Newberry); and his brother Darryl Matthews. He is survived by: his children, Jeannette Matthews of Canyon Creek, MT, Barbara Matthews of Oakland, OR, Jeremy Matthews of Ballwin and Lea Matthews of Antioch, CA; his grandchildren, Elisabeth Mata, Amanda Mata, Taylor Webb, Sydney Webb, Kitty Ariza, Keirsten Carlin, William "David" Carlin and Ian Fineman; and his brothers, Troy Matthews (Janet) of Columbia and Melvin Matthews (Pat) of Modesto, CA.. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
