He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Rutter and Eula Rutter (Snodgrass); his wife Nancy Tolen; his children, Gary Rutter, Craig Rutter and Cheryl Rutter; his brother Jerry Rutter; and his granddaughter Alina Grove.
He is survived by: his children, Monica Kroupa (Joe) of Fontana, Julie Atkins (David) of Lee's Summit, Jackie Denton (Dennis) of Chillicothe, Missouri and William Grove (Jane) of Wildwood, Florida; his daughter-in-law Kim Rutter; his sister Glenda Gill (Dan) of Texaas; his sister-in-law Joan Rutter; his grandchildren, Leryn Williams (Jeremy) of Independence, Ely Swanson (Megan) of Kansas City, Koree Morgan, Jesse of Blue Springs, Chad Rutter (Brooke) of Oak Grove, Jason Atkins (Tara) of Lee's Summit, Joshua Atkins (Rachelle Schneider) of Missouri, Thomas Yount (Beth) of Independence, Tiffany Winfrey (Preston) of Chillicothe, Audrey Beckerdite (Robert) of Fairfield, Serenity Lambert of Independence, Jefferson Grove, Staci Grove and Alex Grove (Kyle Grove); and his nieces and nephews, Jan DeVilbiss and Jennifer Martin. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
