He was predeceased by: his father Joseph E. Ellis, Jr.; his son-in-law Elbert Parden; his sister Karen Ellis Brown; his brothers-in-law, Dick Brown and Rick Reed; and his nephew Kevin Ellis Brown.
He is survived by: his friends, Hunter Rolwing, Charles Jackson and Donnie Bruenderman; his wife Loretta Hunt Wheelis; his daughters, Amanda McDermott (Wesley) and Theresa Parden; his grandchildren, Madyson Scott (Kade), Cole McDermott, Shawn Dale Parden (Cassie), Michael Parden and Tyler Parden (Nicole); his sister Deidre Ellis Reed; and his nephews, Chris Brown (Robyn), Dee Brown, Tres Reed (Whitney) and Joe Reed.
