He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar McDowell and Mable Smith McDowell; and his son Jerry David McDowell II. He is survived by: his wife Maxine; his children, Jeral Tracy Watt (Jerry) of Memphis, Tennessee and Juri McDowell (Kamal) of St. Louis, Missouri; his brother Willie McDowell of Braxton Mississippi; his grandchildren, Cameron Watt of Memphis, TN, Sona McDowell of Columbia, MO, Maya Watt of New Orleans, LA, Kush and Manu McDowell; his goddaughter Kelsie Anderson of Sikeston, Missouri.; and his extended family, Zellars, Fitzgeralds and McFerrens. He is also survived by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the endowed scholarship of his late son, the Jerry David McDowell II Memorial Scholarship at Southeast Missouri State University.
