We are sad to announce that on August 28, 2023, at the age of 95, Gene Slaten of Charleston, Missouri, born in Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Roy Slaten and Myrtle G. Kemp Slaten; his wife Ruth Helen Steward; his son John C. "Johnny" Slaten; his great grandchild Riley McElroy; and his siblings, Hal Slaten, Carlton Slaten, Minnie Warren, Pauline Pinelle and Martha Jane Baker.
He is survived by: his children, Gordon Slaten (Terry) of Charleston, Stephen Slaten (Martha) of Cape Girardeau and Mary Susan Ponder (Rudy) of Sikeston; his daughter-in-law Robin Slaten of Charleston; and his brother Kemp Slaten (Jane) of Charleston. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
