He was predeceased by: his parents, David Nathan Sr. and Edna Marilyn McIntosh Phillips; his siblings, Donna Nelson, Shirley English, Mary Jane Page, Vickie "Vi" Lair, Robin Phillips, Wayne "Jake" Murphy, Sr., Oral "Butch" Murphy, David Phillips Jr. and Rocky J. "Brov" Phillips; and his mother-in-law Andrea Owsley.

He is survived by: his wife Stephanie Ann Owsley of Canton; his children, Chase Phillips of Hannibal and Allison Phillips of St. Louis; his siblings, Marilyn Garrels of Keosaqua, Linda Shirey (Dan) of Canton, Angela Schaller (Rock) of Canton, Yvonne Dudgeon of Canton, Carmon Lindsey of Canton, Pam Briscoe (Randall) of Williamstown and Gretchen Phillips of Kahoka; his siblings-in-law, Lora Phillips, Jerry Lair of Williamstown, Tina Birck of Canton and Nicole Owsley of Palmyra; his father-in-law Steve Owsley of Canton; and his caregiver Stacy Harris. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
