She was predeceased by: her parents, Jean Violet and Luella Violet (Taylor); her husband Garland; and her sister Shirley. She is survived by: her children, Crystal Shepard (Michael David Shepard), Connie Banks, Deborah Smith and William Perez (Donald Perez); her grandchildren, Simeon Willard Lester Shepard and Gwen Donna Ellen Shepard; and her great grandchild Everett Martin Shepard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
