She was loved and cherished by many people including: her siblings, Sandra Krull of Hermann, MO and Donald Akins of Moreno Valley, CA.; her children, Don Hayes Jr. (Patti) of O'Fallon, MO, Judy Grither of Breckenridge, MO, Rhonda Kemper (Barry) of Cowpen, SC and Kim Hayes of Lonedell, MO; her husband Donald C. Hayes; her daughter Vicky Lynn Brazel; her parents, Noah Akins and Clara Akins; and her siblings, Helen Hanners, Dorothy Sissom, Noah C. Akins, Billy Gene Akins, MaryAnn Alice Akins, Melvin Ray Akins and James Paul Akins. She was also cherished by 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She turned this passion into a way to support St. Claire Hospital in Eureka by crocheting blue and pink hats for newborns and lap pads for Alzheimer patients.
