He was predeceased by: his wife Trudy Heitman of Earlham; and his mother Trudy. He is survived by: his children, Mark Smith (Becky) of Lincoln, Missouri, Mike Smith (Tina) of Brookfield, Missouri, Teresa Smith Cobler (Tony) of Ottumwa, Iowa and Tim Smith (Shannon) of Indianola, Iowa; and his siblings, Morris Smith of Earlham, Iowa and Glenna Smith Finney of Winterset, Iowa. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
