He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldon Allen Head and Helen Eudema Swisegood Head; his former wife Jeannine Ann Truitt; his wife Jeannie; and his sister Erma Helms.

He is survived by: his wife Susan Head; his children, Lindsay Howerton (Tim) of Overland Park, KS and Carl Allen Head of Kirksville, MO; his brother Doyle Head (Merlyn); and his granddaughters, Maggie and Lyla Howerton of Overland Park, KS. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
