She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Benjamin and Edith Carpenter (Ford); her husband Bert Lee Garrett; her siblings, Harold Carpenter, Geraldine Wilson and Maxine Brim; and her granddaughter Jennifer Schierling.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sandra Shierling (Val) of Arlington and Peggy Crist (Michael) of Brookfield, Missouri; her brother Jack Carpenter (Kay) of Peru; her sister-in-law Naida Carpenter of Sedan; and her son-in-law Bruce Theissen of Mustang, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.
