He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Dickens and Rebecca Dickens; his stepmother Inez Dickens; his brother R. J. Dickens; and his significant other Cleta Dickens.

He is survived by: his siblings, Ray Dean Dickens (Linda) of Kansas City and Wanda Davis of Tulsa, Oklahoma.; his grandchildren, Timothy Haynes (Erin) and Rebecca Davis (Thomas); and his great grandchildren, Mikayla, Marcy, Brooklynn and James.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in his memory.
