He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Coffey and Pauline Coffey; his wife Sharon Coffey; his siblings, Jim Coffey, Herman Coffey Jr., Dan Coffey, Kenny Coffey, Elizabeth Kay Coffey, Donna Ahart, Patsy Steely and Connie Brown; and his siblings-in-law, Betty Jump, Bonnie Smith, Al Sullivan, Wilburn Ball, John Brown, Paul Thomas and Sonny Thomas.

He is survived by: his children, Pam Ferguson (Mike) of Clinton, Missouri and Mark Coffey of Bolivar, Missouri; his grandchildren, Shane Ferguson (Sarah) of Marshall, Hannah Ferguson of Clinton, Missouri, Heilyn and Lane; and his siblings, Winnie Ball, Teressa Cornell and Paul Coffey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's name to the American Kidney Fund.
