He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sellmeyer and Greta Sellmeyer; his nephew Scott Sellmeyer; his niece Michelle Walters; and his brother-in-law Don Brandes.

He is survived by: his son Carl Sellmeyer (Amy) of Raymore, Missouri.; his wife Sharon Kay Brandes; his grandchildren, Emma, Addison and John Sellmeyer; his brothers, Lee Sellmeyer (Wanda) of Granger, Deryl Sellmeyer (Gayle) of Spring Hill and Charles Sellmeyer (Mary) of Raymore, Missouri.; and his siblings-in-law, Neil Brandes (Verlene) of Belton and Jerri Brandes of Pleasant Hill, Missouri..
