He was predeceased by: his wife Monica Maletta; and his brother Joseph Maletta. He is survived by: his daughters, Dr. Kim Shibley of Wayzata, MN and Alison Maletta Nitis (Nicholas) of Smithtown, NY; his grandchildren, Harrison, Bradford, Melanie, Lauren Shibley and Kristina Nitis; and his great grandchild Cecelia Schneeberg. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

““Tommy” and I were brought up together in Ozone Park. Our mothers wheeled us together in our baby carriages ! We became close friends throughout our childhood. I will never forget how proud and in awe of him I was when he decided to become a doctor and couldn’t get into medical school here so he went to Italy, not knowing a word of Italian, and taught himself the language on the boat . This was in 1946. What courage and determination ! My sincere condolences....Sam Vizza, Huntington Bay NY”
