He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Josh, Lukas and Jessica Smith (Matt); his grandchildren, Amelia, Hugh and Sawyer Smith; his parents, Bill and Amelia; his siblings, Sharon, Carol (Tom Richter) and Randy; his brother-in-law Bruce Larsen; his son Joshua; his siblings, Debbie Larsen, Cindy Schmitz, Kristy Macho (Joe), Lisa Olson (Carter), Wendy Harding (Brian), Mike Schmitz, Mark Schmitz (Jackie), Kevin Schmitz (Jacki), Alan Schmitz (Koni) and Steve Schmitz (Randi); and his siblings-in-law, Denise Schmitz, Dwayne Rossner (Sharon) and Randy Rossner (Lynn). He was also cherished by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials, as they will be used on items Rick enjoyed in life.
