He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Volkmann and Ruth Volkmann; his mother-in-law Esther Tveten; his siblings-in-law, Dick Gillmer, Gary Palmquist, Don Peterson and Jeanette Peterson; and his nephew Barrett Volkmann.
He is survived by: his wife Marie; his children, Trevor Volkmann (Charlotte) and Tammy Thomforde (Jerod); his grandchildren, Justin, Emma, Natalie Thomforde, Hazel, Lillian and Evelyn Volkmann; his siblings, Kay Gillmer, Betty Rogers (Jim), Peter Volkmann (Bette) and Suzie Palmquist; and his siblings-in-law, Lois Dyreson (John), Ione Brokaw (Leonard) and David Tveten (Kristi). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
