He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph P. Byrne and Frances M. Byrne (Shannon); and his siblings, Kevin Byrne and Mary P. Honkanen. He is survived by: his wife Marlene; his daughters, Julie Sanborn (Jim) and June Byrne (Will Shand); his grandchildren, Amanda Prestegard (Tom), John Sanborn (Jen), Bradley Sanborn and Erica Sanborn (Nate Loranger); his siblings, Anna Marie Byrne and Pat Byrne (Gwynne); and his brother-in-law Kenneth Honkanen. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
