He is survived by: his mother Frances Heers (Gilman); his wife Vickie Jerdee; his children, Kaye Hansen (Corey), Caroline Hetzel (Dallas) and David Heers (Sarah) of Austin; his grandchildren, Victoria, Gloria, Luke Hansen, Riley, Jenna Hetzel, Henry and Ella Heers; his siblings, Peter Heers (Karen), JoEllen Heers-Rosen (Mike), Jane Youngman (Dave) and Ann Deane (Michael); and his siblings-in-law, Odean Jerdee (Janet), Paul Jerdee (Pam) and Elaine Erickson. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and many cousins.
