He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilmer A. Laidley and Ethel Laidley (Johnson); his son Greg; and his siblings, Willis, Marlys Helgeson (Curtis) and Eunice VanBaalen (Julius).
He is survived by: his wife Melba Johnston; his children, Brenda Marben (Kurt), Gary Laidley (Leslie) and Barbara Storm (Terry) of Walker, MN; his grandchildren, John Marben (Cathy) of Scottsdale, AZ, Ann Marben (Wardell) of Tempe, AZ, Beth Anderson (Tanner) of Rochester, MN, Taylor Storm (Chauncey) of Dallas, TX and Turner Storm of Walker, MN; his great grandchildren, Jaida Marben, Rowan Marben, Bodi Marben, Sawyer Anderson, Autumn Smith and Sage Anderson; and his sister Verna Stave (Marvin) of Davenport, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
