He is survived by: his children, Deborah Baxter (Terry) of Garner, Anna Gilkerson (Ward) of North Branch, Stephen Schmidt (Cindi), J. Paul Schmidt (Phyllis) of Clear Lake, Peter Schmidt (Lisa) of Colorado Springs, Daniel Schmidt (Kelly) of Windsor and David Schmidt (Faith) of Pierceton, Indiana; and his brother Phil Schmidt (Lois) of Grantsburg, Wisconsin. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren.
