She was predeceased by: her parents, Abram Smith and Marie Smith (Lobbes); her husband Dick Korthals; her sons, Darwin and Eugene Korthals; her sons-in-law, Robert Pietz and Gary Besta; her grandsons, Mark Besta and Jerome Korthals; her brother Marvin Smith; and her brother-in-law Ben Dirks.

She is survived by: her children, Richard Korthals (Velma) of Parker, Marlys Pietz of Sibley, Janice Besta of Beresford and Carla Myers (Todd) of Sioux Falls; her daughter-in-law Jolene Korthals of Rock Rapids, Iowa; and her sister Edna Dirks of Luverne. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
