He was predeceased by: his parents, Arleigh Schafer and Florence Schafer (Grobe); his wives, Delores Reinhard and Amelia Burfeind; and his great grandchildren, Leah Stoltz and Rhett Hartert.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Schafer (Gwen) of Lake City, Michael Schafer (Deb) of Lake City, Mary Coyle of Lake City, Susan Smith (Kevin) of Hudson, WI and Lori Ann Anderson (Tim) of Lake City. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
