He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Geerdes and Dena Geerdes (Timmer); his former wife Joann Geerdes; his son Steven Geerdes; his brothers, Dwane Geerdes and Raymond Geerdes; and his great grandchild Ny'Lani Hayes.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Kay Geerdes of Jackson, Minnesota; his children, Kim (Tom Sampson), Greg Geerdes of Trimont, Patty Geerdes of Trimont, Mike (Vicki Geerdes), Karla Geerdes of Trimont, Mary (Ron Shade), Peggy (Andre Hayes) and Shelli (Josh Paulson); his daughter-in-law Jodie Geerdes of Fairmont, Minnesota; his stepchildren, Kevin, Carolyn Trosine of Nashville, Michelle Sheepstra, Jason and Amy Trosine of Spokane, Washington; his sister Marilyn Honken of Hartley, Iowa; and his siblings-in-law, Shirley Hindt of Sheldon, Janie, Bubs Johnson of Spirit Lake, Jeanette Hanson of Iowa, Chris Blass of Estherville, Iowa and Clyde Hall of Estherville, Iowa. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
