He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Olson and Maud Olson (Garberich); his siblings, Harold Olson (Alice Mae) and Alyce Kotila (Toivo); his niece Maryln Hunt; and his great-nephew Todd Roy.

He is survived by: his wife Gladys Fischer; his daughter Mary Lee Leinonen (Bruce) of Annandale; his grandchildren, Aaron, Hannah and Mark (Hannah); his daughter Nancy Olson of Cokato; his sisters-in-law, Jean Best and Helen Fischer; and also, Mabel, Pearl, Doug Olson (Shannon) of Winsted, Travis (Ashley), Cody, Madeline, Neenah, Leslie Ann Peglow (Tim) of Kimball, Paige (Ryan), Preston and Parker. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
