He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Salmela and Elina Salmela (Myllykangas); his siblings, Gerald and Darlene Dokken; his brother-in-law Ralph Dokken; and his sister Sandra.

He is survived by: his nephews, David Dokken of Pottsville and Andrew Dokken of Littleton, Colorado.. He is also survived by Several uncles, aunts and cousins.
