He is survived by: his children, Shelli Mattes of Sioux Falls, SD, Todd Van Westen (Kelly) of Bandera, TX and Kim Sigwarth (Troy) of Altoona, IA; his grandchildren, Cody Mattes, Drew Sigwarth and Claire Sigwarth; and his siblings, Johnny Van Westen, Mike Van Westen (Beverly), Scott Van Westen (Vicki), Steffen Van Westen (Ida) and Cheryl Boese (Allen). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
