She was predeceased by: her parents, August Karlson and Selma Karlson (Hagen); her former husband George Barton; her son Larry (Fae Rowe) of Oakes, ND.; her siblings, Edwin Karlson (Delighah), Chester Karlson (Orva), Agnes Hoines (Jesse), Inga Prochnow (Oscar), Salice Karlson and Ester Blair (Darrell); her great grandchild Alexis Frankl; and her nephew Richie Prochnow.
She is survived by: her husband Donald Chelgren; her grandchildren, Brian, Kevin Ewalt, Jenny Bleick, Jamie Frankl (Jodie), Jody Oswalt (Ryan Fenske) and Matt Pausch; her great grandchildren, Anastasia, Gregory Ewalt, Akela, Owin Ewalt, Priscilla Ryder, Mateland Wagner, Michael Wagner, Wyatt Larson, Colton Frankl, Klara Oswalt, Karter Oswalt, Macie Fenske, Bella Pausch, Kinley Frankl, Jace Pausch and Emrie Frankl; and her nephew Herb Prochnow. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
During this time Vi was also employed by Red River Human Services Foundation caring for those with physical and developmental needs.
