He was predeceased by: his parents, John R. Frein and Flossy Frein; his sister-in-law Maureen Frein; his parents-in-law, Leo and Audrey Wipplinger; his brother-in-law Gary Wipplinger; and his niece Catey Krebsbach.
He is survived by: his wife Gail Frein; his son Dan Frein (Faith); his granddaughter Harper Frein; his children, Mark Frein and Lisa Frein; his grandchildren, Kayla and Tanner Frein-Turner; his siblings, Helen Coffman (Greg), Chuck Frein (Marianne), Steve Frein (Marietta), Gary Frein (Julie), Ed Frein (Tina), Pat Wobschall (Larry), Kathy Meyer (Sam Schilling), Mary Kepp (Mike), Sharon Wobschall (Tom) and Judy Monson (Tim); and his goddaughter Becky Frein.
