He was predeceased by: his parents, John Volkers and Matilda Volkers (VanVoorst); and his sister Shirley Shoup. He is survived by: his children, Julie Lewis (Craig), Jackie Porter (Mike), James Kruse (Melissa) and Kris Kruse (Andrea); his niece Donna Day (Jeff); his nephew Michael Shoup; and his grandchildren, Ashley Shoup, Heather Bullock (Nick), Jenna Everts (Scott), Cody Day (Megan), Taylor Brown, Brendan Lewis, Peyton Lewis, Emily Curley (Phil), Melanie Porter, Katharine Porter, Christian Kruse (Jody), Alexis Esterline (Mark), Jennifer Streich (Travis), Dillon Kruse, Colton Kruse, Landon Kruse, Trenton Kruse and Mason Kruse. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Mason County Sports Hall of Fame or Kalamazoo Friends of Recreation.
