He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Linda Schaffer (Nee Champagne); his children, Lori Turnage, Paula Erhardt (John), Jackie Beltramo (Kevin), Karl Schaffer (Mike Weber), Sonya Prantera (Matthew) and Heather Brown (Jason); his grandchildren, Kati, Kyle and Madelyn; and his brother John Turnage (Marilyn).

Bruce volunteered for SHARP (which is volunteer group organized to assist seniors maintain their home and remain in their home) Troy Community Foundation.
