He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver Phelps and Nettie Phelps (Ewers); his daughter-in-law Bertha Phelps; his great grandchild Cameron Thomas; and his sisters, LeMoyne Brownell, Marjorie Patten and Beverly Stemaly.
He is survived by: his wife LaDeama Phelps of Tekonsha; his children, John Phelps of Tekonsha, Sharlynn Winters (Mike) of Volin, SD, Rick Phelps of Tekonsha and Loralee Tesch (Ron) of Tekonsha; his grandchildren, Angela Alford (Justin) of Normal, IL, Kakki Johnson (Donald) of Camden, Rachael Hinckley (Andy) of Battle Creek, Jamie Thomas (Brad) of Tekonsha, Nikki Marshall (JR) of Frankfort, OH, Eric "Pud" Phelps (Stacey) of Tekonsha and Tiffany Boone (Todd) of Lapel, IN; and his stepgrandchildren, Russ Tesch, Annette Stuart and Rhonda Fairchild.
