He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlton Diefenthaler and Kathryn Diefenthaler (Holtcamp); his brothers, Roland and Irwin; his grandchild Lauren; and his son-in-law Dan Dancer.
He is survived by: his wife Alice (Gahler); his children, Timothy Diefenthaler (Julie Evans) of Minnesota, Linda Dancer of Stockbridge, Thomas Diefenthaler of Fowlerville, Sandra Risner (Brook) of Michigan and Debra Diefenthaler of Stockbridge; his brother Alwin "Tub" Diefenthaler (Janet) of Florida; and his sister-in-law Nancy Diefenthaler of California. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
