He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Groening and Agnes Groening (Cornelsen); and his brothers, Marvin and Merlin Groening. He is survived by: his wife Carole Lammerts; his children, Gail Pawlak (John) of Spring Lake, MI and David Groening (Carol) of Fairfax, VT; his grandchildren, John Pawlak (Erin), Daniel Pawlak (Cassie), Sarah Patterman (Justin), Sandra Ashline (Ben) and Michael Groening; his great grandchildren, Jack, Noah Patterman and Gideon Pawlak; and his brother Harvey Groening.
