He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond and Helen; and his son Ricky. He is survived by: his wife Tina; his daughters, Danielle Miedema (Nic), Lindsey Troy (Chase Steensma) and Tiffany Miles; his grandchildren, Kayla, Caiden, Serenity, Alexa, Layton and Ricky; his sisters, Doris Palmer (Larry), Donna Hamann (Dan) and Chris Alverson (Larry); and his mother-in-law Marie Hood. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
