He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Esau and Thelma Esau (Kibbey); his son Robert Marlin Esau; and his brothers, Marlin "Bud" Esau and LaVern Esau.

He is survived by: his wife Monica Esau; his children, Tammy Ferst (Steve) and Doug Esau (Brenda); and his grandchildren, Christie and Katherine. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
