She is survived by: her parents, Juan Mejia and Isabel Mejia (Alfaro); her husband Leonel Vargas Zarco; her children, Rigoberto Vargas (Sonia) of Bangor, Javier Vargas (Manuela) of Bangor, Daniel Vargas (Rosa) of South Haven and Araceli Andaya (Hugo) of South Haven; and her siblings, Genaro, Emelia, Elia, Isabel, Juan, Maria, Carmen and Rosalba. She is also survived by eight grandchildren.
