He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Chester and Mary Ann LaVake (Owens); his sister JoAnn Congee; his great grandchild Louis St. Andrew; and his aunt Eileen Owens.

He is survived by: his wife Rita Robbins; his children, Loni LaJoice (Matthew) of St. Ignace and Darren LaVake (Angelique) of Hessel, Michigan; his grandchildren, Krista Tamlyn (Andy), Morgan LaVake (Jamin), David LaVake, Ryan LaVake, Kelly Perrault and Joshua LaJoice; his great grandchildren, Gracia, Rayden, Joyanna, Talise, Jordy and Cayde; and his sister Ilene Moses of St. Ignace.
