He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Benson and Maude Benson (Boerma); his siblings, Robert Benson, Henry Benson, Lawrence "Junior" Benson, Betty Jordan, Shirley Pilasewski and Ida Ladner; his former wife Guylyn Benson; and his daughter Marlyn Sue Benson.
He is survived by: his former spouse Guylyn Sanders of Georgia; his wife Leona May Benson; his children, Terry Benson (Sharon), Tony Benson (Cathy) and Julie Spencer; his grandchildren, Sarah Pinkham (Evan), Clinton Benson (Faith) and Levi Benson (Laura); and his brothers, Jack Benson and Andrew Benson (Carol). He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
