He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto A. Wendt and Margaret Wendt; and his sister Barbara Malcolm of St. Clair. He is survived by: his wife Donna J. Wendt, RN; his children, Dr. Terri Richards, Dr. Beth Wendt, Richard J. Wendt Jr. (Amy) and Dr. John Wendt (Marianne); and his grandchildren, James Prosser, Caitlin Maas (Andy), Zachary Wendt, Victoria Wendt, Adam Wendt, Catherine Rinke, Trevor Wendt (Amanda) and Andrew Wendt.

Memorial Tributes may be made out to the McLaren Macomb Foundation (https://www.mclaren.org) with special directive to the Mat Gaberty Heart Center.
