He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara; his brother Jeff Wanks; and his parents, Jake Wanks and Betty Wanks. He is survived by: his children, Scott Wanks (Julie) and Kim Goldman (Lary); his grandchildren, Alexis, Alyssa, Ryan and Easton; and his siblings, Mary Jo Burcham (Tim), Randy Wanks (Bev), Kenny Wanks (Alice), Larry Wanks (Judy), Terry Wanks (Diane), Pat Wanks, Donna and Carl Wanks (Hannah).

The family suggests donations to the Autism Alliance of Michigan of the American Lung Association.
