Peterson of Rapid River, Michigan, born in Escanaba, Michigan, who passed away on January 13, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Peterson and Gertrude Peterson (Olson); his former wife Lorraine Olson; his siblings, Marion Erickson, Charles, Gerald and Gordon Peterson; and his grandson Kevin Peterson.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Johnson; his children, Dannette Viau (Greg), Charles Peterson, Clayton Peterson (Mary Ann), Timothy Peterson and Martha Miller (Carl); his stepchildren, Cheryl Vanderlinden (James), Bill Johnson (Sarah), Ed Johnson (Valerie), Ray Johnson (Lisa) and Charlotte Pfeiffer (John); his grandchildren, Bradley Viau (Amy), Danielle Viau (Bobby Wagner), Michelle Kozar (Jeff), Valerie Peterson, Kirsten Gallandt (Mary), Samantha Buttry (Robbie), Jessica Schroeder (Adam), Heather DeLillo (Ray), Matthew Peterson (Chelsea), Ashley Peterson, Cyle Miller and Megan Murray (Brett); his sister Grace Millsap; and his brother-in-law William Peterson. He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and 2 new great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Richard's name be directed to Calvary Lutheran Church of the charity of your choosing.
