“I met Donald only through a Facebook group for submariners. I followed and interacted with him for ages, it seems. He shared so openly what he felt as he helped his wife through her diagnosis and decline by the same monster that eventually took him. I felt like I raced across country with him to rescue birds. I agonized with him as he had to give up his friends to the care of others. I admired him more than any human I've known as he shared how he prepared for his passing. What a man he was!”
