She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward J. Merchant and Phyllis N. Merchant (Hill); her husband Walter Whalen; and her son Richard "Rick" Whalen. She is survived by: her children, Louanna Lawson (Jeff) of Charlotte, Buck Whalen (Cheryl) of Eaton Rapids and Jody Lannoo (Peter) of Canton; her siblings, Sandra Fast of Charlotte, Sue Valora of Charlotte and Aggie Robertson (Neal) of Eaton Rapids; and her daughter-in-law Nancy Whalen of Holt. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
