He was predeceased by: his parents, August Korvela and Hannah Korvela (Heikkenen); his son Dean Korvela; his sister Lois Ghiardi; and his brother-in-law Kenneth Peterson.

He is survived by: his uncle Ted; his wife Nancy Korvela (Wertanen) of Republic; his son Michael Korvela (Joan) of Ishpeming; his granddaughters, Caitlin and Sinead Korvela; and his sisters, Anita Battjes (Ronald) and June Peterson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
