He was predeceased by: his parents, Stacey E. and Martha F. Gensheimer Rankin, Sr.; his granddaughter Samantha Sample; and his siblings, Dorothy Bistolas and Henry Rankin.

He is survived by: his wife Lorraine A. Fleischhut; his daughters, Karen Hanly and Jennifer Jones (Rufus); his grandchildren, John Boomer, Jessica Sample (Tony), Rufus Jones and Cassondra Jones; his great grandchildren, Allisa Contoni, Megan Denis, John Boomer, Sarah Boomer, Elijah Sample and Abby Sample; and his siblings, Robert Rankin and Victoria Hebert.
