He was predeceased by: his son Donald (Margaret); his siblings, Robert, Edwin, Kenneth, Charles and Rosemary Hindson; and also Many Steinmetz.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret C. Newell Steinmetz; his children, Tom Steinmetz and Susan Steinmetz; his brother James Steinmetz; and his sister-in-law Virginia Steinmetz.
