He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Kraatz and Florence Kraatz; his stepfather Oscar Juengel; his brothers, Milton and Bruce Kraatz; and his brother-in-law Howard Kling.

He is survived by: his wife Ardith Kling; his children, Terry Miller (Steven) and Mark Kraatz; and his grandchildren, Troy Miller, Alicia Kraatz, Bradley Miller and Everett Kraatz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Gerald's honor to the Immanuel Lutheran Chapel Restoration Fund.
