She was predeceased by: her parents, Katherine Reed and Daniel Reed; her stepmother Elizabeth Reed; her half-brother David Reed; her son Paul Mertens; and her nephew Sumner Meredith.
She is survived by: her sons, James Mertens of Houghton, Mich. and Jeffrey Mertens (Mitzi) of Lansing, Mich.; her sister Ann Meredith of Ann Arbor, Mich.; her half-sister Ellen Watford of Tryon, N. C.; and her niece Kathryn Meredith of Plymouth, Mich..
