He was predeceased by: his children, Thomas Demps, Sr., Arenet Sanders, Jr., Andrea Williams and Annette Sanders; his parents, Augustus Sanders and Josie Sanders; his siblings, Augustus Jr., Earnest, John, Lorenzo Sanders, Mary King and Mildred Skinner; and his aunt Mary Lou Freeman.

He is survived by: his niece Sharon; his sons, Roderick Sanders of Marietta, Georgia and Travis Sanders of Marietta, Georgia; his daughter-in-law Delores "Lou" Asis; his grandchildren, Thomas Demps, Jr., Zahirah Sanders, John Coward of Las Vegas, Arenet Jason Sanders (Veronica) of Burbank, Chrissy Sanders (Alex Belmonte) of Burbank, Marvin Sanders, Bridget and Mario Sanders of Alton, Texas; his great grandchildren, Ahmira Walker, Noah Belmonte and Arenet Jalen Sanders; his brother Gerald Sanders of Dana Point, California; and his former wife Shirley Lester of Kentucky. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
